Finally got around to testing the Selenium rectifier.
Now I know another reason Barney got put in the barn! The rectifier shorted
(at least) one of its four selenium diodes. I stopped testing when I found the first short! |

Note that the foward voltage drop is about .2 volt which is appropriate
for a Selenium rectifier.![]() Note that the foward voltage drop is about 0.004 volt which is NFG for any kind of rectifier! ![]() Note that the reverse voltage drop is about 0.001 volt which is NFG for any kind of rectifier! ![]() Note that the foward voltage drop is about 0.6 volt which is OK for a Silicon rectifier! ![]() Note that the foward voltage drop is about 0.6 volt which is OK for a Silicon rectifier! ![]() Note that the reverse voltage drop is nothing! I just used an old part I had from a previous life! It happens to be a 200volt
30amp, full wave bridge rectifier (FWBR). So I will use it. |

Note the US Agriculture (re)tape on this package from tenavintage (Anis)! ![]() |

Just can't seem to convince them that Anis sells motorcycle parts,
but puts them in a rice bag!
Anyway, I got the package in 7 days from when he mailed it. Pretty good travelling with an unintended stop! Next question I will be asking is on the rear shocks for an S90. Can one somehow remove the red (or whatever color) plastic outer cover by just unscrewing the top mount piece (52403-028-000), without springs and stuff flying all around with big dangerous boing? Looking at the archives, it appears that one must build the "infamous" rear shock tool! Seems the plastic cover is smashed by the spring against the top-mount eye (rear cushion upper metal). I wonder what keeps the plastic from squishing flat? Looking at the parts list blowout pictures doesn't seem to help, and I can't find anything in the shop manual. And I have never done it on any shocks, so I don't know what is involved. The idea is that if it is easy to do, one could buy black, white or blue shocks and just put one's own red plastic covers on them? |
