May 03, 2007:  What is a brake pedal?

An electrical system update. The other three diodes in the original Selenium rectifier were OK, so I think the stator coils are OK and weren't cooked by the battery.

Also more bare wire was found in the run from the taillight into the frame! Don't know if it was mouse food, or whether it caused the various electrical failures that may have been partly the cause of Barney's retirement to oblivion in the murky dim past (LOL).

Now back to the brake pedal...

What does a real S90 brake pedal look like? And should it hit the bottom of the exhaust pipe in its up position?

I only ask, since I have never owned an S90, and mine came with no step bar for reference. The brake pedal was kind of pidgeon-toed! And it clunked against the exhaust pipe! I don't think these are normal conditions (LOL)

In this first picture, the upper is the original, the lower is what I bought (used) on eBay as allegedly an S90 brake pedal! Seems to have a nicer shape, but it doesn't fit!

The tang to connect to the rear brake rod is too tall! It won't even clear the swing arm pivot. So I can't even mount it.

But that is not all...

The height of the tang is visible here.

From above which curve (geometry) is correct? Is neither?

Note in this view that the mounting tube is wider on the alleged pedal, which is the bottom one.

Note the aqua lines showing the widths. The right hand pretender is so wide, the pipe doesn't stick out enough from the frame to mount it!

And lastly, a side view showing the vertical bends of the pedals.

I think the one I bought is pretty true to the required shape. But I don't know what model it is for? Any ideas? Anyone want to trade for some other S90 parts?

Could this be for a CL90 or a CT90?
