May 09, 2007: Another cause of death

Here is another reason for Barney's demise many years ago.

The condenser reads basically 0 ohms, or a dead short. So the points could never be seen as open, so no spark, so poor Barney died!

I wonder how many more reasons there were?

The condenser was shorted.
The tail wiring was bare, so it would short the battery to ground, so the fuse would blow, etc.
The Selenium rectifier was shorted at the pink to red wire diode. So the result was that the battery couldn't charge.
There is a little oil in the points area, so again, no spark.
